Vijay Thanigasalam

Vijay immigrated to Scarborough in 2003 at the age of 14. Just a few days after coming to Canada, he began school at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School. He went on to study at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). Before being elected to the provincial legislature in 2018, Vijay worked as a financial advisor at one of Canada’s top banks. He later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University.
Vijay was first elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Scarborough - Rouge Park in 2018 and currently serves as Ontario's Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions.
